Machined & diamond-cut wheel repair

Machined wheels, also called diamond-cut or two-tone wheels, have a bright cut metal face next to painted sections. They are the hardest wheels to repair well, and they are what we do best.

Why machined wheels are different

A machined face is cut on a lathe, then clear coated. When it gets curbed, the rash goes through the clear and into the bright metal. A plain paint touch-up looks wrong on it, because the face is bare metal with fine lathe lines, not paint.

Repaired, not ground down

A common shortcut is to grind or polish the whole face until the damage disappears. That removes metal and changes the look of the wheel. We repair the damaged area and rebuild the finish so it matches the rest of the wheel. Most repairs take about 30 minutes per wheel.

Cars we see most

BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Lexus and Tesla all use machined or two-tone wheels on many models. If your wheel has a shiny face with painted pockets between the spokes, it is probably machined.

Where we work

We come to you across the South Bay and the Peninsula up to Redwood City, and down through Santa Cruz County and Monterey County to Carmel. You can also bring the car to our Morgan Hill shop by appointment.

What we don't do

We repair cosmetic damage only. Bent or cracked wheels need a wheel straightening or replacement shop.
